About Luggage and Carrying

  • It cannot carry more than the cargo space size of a light freight vehicle (approx. 180 cm long, 110 cm wide, and 110 cm high).
  • Make sure that all the luggage fits into this size. Roughly, the amount of luggage is about 80% of the volume of the unit bath.
  • It can be loaded up to a height of 180 cm in roughly one square meter.
  • If the load is too large to be carried in one go, please request a second car.
  • For the standard plan, if you need assistance in moving up the stairs without an elevator, you will be charged 3,300 yen per floor. If you can complete the unloading by yourself at your current address, you can also deduct it in installments.
  • We also offer very competitive rates for long distance moves outside the Tokyo metropolitan area. Please contact us using this form.
  • We do not transport washing machines and refrigerators larger than 2 doors.
  • Customers are responsible for packing and unpacking by themselves. If you require packing and unpacking, please select the premium plan.
  • Customers are responsible for disassembly, assembly, and installation of furniture and appliances.
  • Please do not forget to drain dehumidifiers and humidifiers.
  • Please pack your furniture and prepare it for removal before the driver arrives.
  • If you have to check rooms with Oak House staff, please do it before the start of your move to avoid overlapping. This is to avoid delays in departure and additional charges such as standby fees and overtime.
  • Smart Moving has freight insurance and will cover damage.

Surcharges and cancellation policy

  • We also offer very reasonable rates for moves outside the Tokyo metropolitan area that involve large distances. Please contact us by filling out this form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
  • We will schedule a time to meet you at your new location when your belongings are loaded and ready to leave. If you are late for the rendezvous, we will charge you a standby fee of 1,650 yen per 15 minutes including tax. Please make sure you have a route to your new location in advance.
  • If it is necessary to use a paid parking lot for the moving process, the customer will be required to pay the actual cost on site.
  • If your application date is less than 7 days before your planned move, the following emergency fees will be charged Six to five days before the moving date: 2,200 yen (including tax) 4 to 3 days before the moving date: 4,400 yen (including tax) 2 days before to the day of moving: 5,500 yen (including tax)
  • If there are any changes to the date and content of the reservation, please notify us at least 7 days in advance.
  • Once the reservation is confirmed, no refunds will be made due to cancellation or other reasons.
  • Changes in the date, time and content of the reservation may not be accepted.

About operation

What kind of car is the moving car?
The K-Van One Box, also known as the Suzuki Everly or Honda N-Van, is a suitable vehicle for a single person move.
How much can it be loaded?
We can use the entire cargo area of the light van. We can load most people’s belongings at one time if you are moving for a single person sharing a house; if you don’t think you can load it all at once, please request two vans.
Can you load tall bookshelves and bicycles?
Yes, you can. The size of the cargo room is roughly 180 cm long, 110 cm wide, and 110 cm high.
Bicycles can be loaded. If you want to transport household goods larger than the size of the cargo room above, please contact us by filling out the form below and we will arrange a different car.

About luggage

Do you need packaging?
Yes, packaging is necessary. Whenever possible, put them in cardboard boxes and seal them with duct tape. Please wrap tableware, glassware, etc. in newspaper to prevent breakage. If the item does not fit in a cardboard box, such as a TV, musical instrument, or a full-length mirror, please pack it with bubble wrap.
I don't have any cardboard boxes at hand. Is it OK if I ask you to carry items in a plastic trash bag?
No. It may get dirty or damaged. We cannot maintain the quality of the move, so we do not accept such packaging. Clothes, blankets, and other fragile items can be transported in sturdy bags such as IKEA’s recycling bags. Please be sure to put broken items and books in cardboard boxes.
Do you have cardboard boxes and other items available for loan in advance?

Can you open the package?
No. You are responsible for packing and unpacking by yourself. If you would like us to pack and unpack your furniture, please select the premium plan.
Can you disassemble and reassemble assembled furniture and remove and install furniture and appliances?
No. We do not. You are also on your own.
Can you compensate me if my package is lost?
No, we do not. The completion of the delivery of your household goods is considered to be the completion of the delivery of all of your household goods. About payment

How do I pay with PayPal?
After you fill out the application form, we will send you an email to complete the payment. Enter your credit card information from the URL and your payment will be completed.
Is credit card the only method of payment?
No. We offer credit card payment and direct deposit with PayPal and pre-payment. After submitting the application form, you will receive an email from us, so please follow the instructions to complete the payment. We do not accept local cash payments.
If I am charged for extra time or distance, do I have to pay for it by credit card too?
Only in this case we will accept local cash payment.
Can I make a last minute booking?
Yes, we can book at least five days before your move. As a rule, we ask for reservations up to 7 days before your move, but we will do our best to accommodate sudden reservations. However, emergency services will incur additional charges:
